I'm Randy Mouri and this blog is about my quest to be an official finisher in the Race Across AMerica (RAAM), the toughest endurance race in the world. It's over and I became an official solo finisher in 11 days, 1 hour and 13 minutes! We continue to raise money and awareness on behalf of Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia (Habitat NoVa). If you would like to make a donation to Habitat NoVa, please visit my page on Habitat’s site. Endless thanks to our sponsors and all the folks that have made such generous contributions. Team Mouri would not have been able to travel so comfortably, which certainly may have changed the outcome of the race.

Saddle and neck

From the Crew:

"Well we made the cutoff with time to spare. Randy has been a little tired of late. Coming into DURANGO his neck started to bother him. So we now have Connie staying in follow and Al in support so we can treat often as necessary. Behave him in a neck brace. Randy wasn't happy with his climbing bike saddle so we got another one to try. crew is being well fed and we are holding together and remaining flexible."

FYI:
Cutoff is the 81 hr time limit to reach Durango
Connie is Team Mouri's massage therapist
Al is the Team MD

Riding with Randy on the 600K, I made one suggestion that might help with the neck problem. I know he likes to ride with his aero bar pads the "right" way -- with the tabs toward the back. I have them that way on one of my bikes, but on the other I reverse the pads. It allows the elbows to splay out a bit more and it's a little easier on the upper back. Might work as a change of pace. Good luck!

Keep it going, Randy, it gets easier every day. We're rooting for you! Stay cool!

You, Greg and I rode together on Endless Mountains in 2009. Remember how cold and wet we were?

What a difference a couple of years make!
